She is predeceased by her parents and her sister Barbara Townsend. As per her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. She will be interred next to her husband, Tom at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home, Edwards.
She graduated as Valedictorian from Gouverneur High School and continued on to graduate from the University of Buffalo, where she was crowned as the Moving Up Day Queen. She believed in life-long learning and took many courses from both SUNY Potsdam and SOAR. Kris retired to Gouverneur and became active in the community. She was a member of Kiwanis, Gouverneur Garden Club, Gouverneur Arts Club and the Gouverneur Hospital Auxiliary. She also sang in the Methodist Choir and Holiday Cantatas. She also served on the Board of Directors of Marble City Housing.

He never lost his love for the North Country, and loved coming in the fall to enjoy hunting and being at camp with his brother and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald, a retired construction union laborer, as well as her parents, a brother Glendon Thomas, a sister Betty Thomas Murphy, a son Robert Canell, and a son in law Dennis Schneider. We are sad to announce that on December 18, 2022, at the age of 87, Bernice L Hanson passed away. Family and friends can send flowers and condolences in memory of the loved one.
Kay was born August 16, 1940, in Utica, NY, to Joseph and Catherine Massoud. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes and graduated from Utica Free Academy. They also wish to thank Dr. Reason and his staff, the Richard E Winter Cancer Center, especially Melodie Rishe, who always had a smile and a kind word during a very challenging time. “Kay” is at rest with the Lord, after passing peacefully, October 6th, 2022, in Phoenix, Arizona.
George spent the final six years of his career at WCVTI, sharing administrative duties with Director Ron Renaud, who became a close friend. An earlier bout with cancer led him to take early retirement because he and Bobbie, also a cancer survivor, wanted to get out on the road and see what was happening in the U.S. During his retirement he 'shunpiked' across the country several times, fished, gardened, made prize-winning home brew, traveled to Iceland for the second time, wrote long letters to his family and friends, and read. He loved rowing his Peapod, built at WCVTI's Boat School, off Eastport's waterfront. She is also survived by her siblings Peter Wormwood, David Hoffman and companion Debbie, Susan Fitzpatrick, and Kelly Sibley, several nieces and nephews. Sherry is predeceased by her parents, her son Christopher Sawyer, her grandsons Travis and Dylan Sawyer, her brother Michael Hoffman, her-in-laws Cecil and Loretta Sawyer.
She also enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, reading, Syracuse University sports, Broadway show, Turner Classic Movies and family get-togethers. She was especially proud of her family’s various accomplishments. Marilyn was born in Gouverneur, NY on May 15, 1937 to Earl and Katherine Dier.

After retirement, Carl enjoyed hunting, spending time with his yorkies , having coffee with friends, and participating in his local church. He tried to make an annual trip to New York to catch up with family and friends until his health wouldn’t let him.

Her career expanded to designing hotels in Taiwan, Japan and several European countries. She graduated from Hermon-DeKalb School in 1967, Watertown School of Commerce in 1969. Elaine spent many weekends in Syracuse while attending Maria Regina College for Medical Records while working full time. Contributions in her memory may be made to Gouverneur Rescue Squad, The Village of Gouverneur Recreation Center, or St Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Sally married Ronald Canell, her high school sweetheart on March 2, 1957 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Gouverneur.
