Gloria was the great-great-great-grandson of shipping and railroad magnate Cornelius Vanderbilt. Although a majority of his wealth is due to his career as a popular news anchor, Anderson Cooper does come from the incredibly rich Vanderbilt family. His mother, Gloria Laura Vanderbilt, is the great-great-granddaughter of Cornelius Vanderbilt and had a net worth of $200 million before her passing in 2019 due to stomach cancer.
